MCP server
What the Zylar MCP server does: it lets AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor read and run your cold email campaigns. Included on every plan.
Zylar includes an MCP server that lets AI assistants read and run your campaigns. With it connected, you can work with Zylar from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor: ask about your campaigns and act on them in the same conversation, without switching to the app. This page explains what MCP is, what the Zylar server enables and how it relates to the API.
What MCP is
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to external tools and data. An application exposes an MCP server, and any compatible AI client can connect to it and use what it offers. You connect once, and the assistant can work with that application on your behalf.
For more on the protocol itself, see the Model Context Protocol documentation.
What the Zylar MCP server enables
The Zylar MCP server lets AI assistants read and run campaigns:
- Read: ask your assistant about your campaigns and get answers from your live Zylar data.
- Run: have your assistant take action on your campaigns, not just report on them.
Zylar's MCP server works with:
| Client | Supported |
|---|---|
| Claude | Yes |
| ChatGPT | Yes |
| Cursor | Yes |
When to use MCP, the API or webhooks
All three are included on every plan. They suit different jobs:
| Use | Best fit |
|---|---|
| Ask questions and run campaigns conversationally from an AI assistant | MCP |
| Build your own integration or script with precise control over requests | REST API |
| React automatically to events such as replies, bounces or auto-paused domains | Webhooks |
| Connect events to other apps without code | Zapier or Make |
The API covers leads, sequences, inboxes and stats. If you need a specific, repeatable automation, the API or webhooks are the more predictable choice. MCP is for when you want an assistant to do the work interactively.
Connecting
Connection details for the MCP server are provided in-app during early access. Once you have them, add Zylar as an MCP server in your client of choice (Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor) following that client's instructions for adding MCP servers.
Security considerations
An assistant connected through MCP can run campaigns, not only read them. Treat that access like any other credential:
- Connect only clients and accounts you trust.
- Review actions an assistant proposes before you approve them, especially anything that sends email or changes a live sequence.
- If you manage several client workspaces, be deliberate about which workspace you connect. See Workspaces and roles.
